Ignite 2023 Physiotherapy Conference, Brisbane

Spring Conference Season Is Beginning

The arrival of Spring means that it is time to get ready for the conference season! It is always such a pleasure to gather with people from different areas; to listen to speakers, to discuss, plan and create with colleagues, to converse with industry professionals and to share all the new products and services we have created over the year.

Our first conference will be Australia Physiotherapy Association’s annual national conference, this year titled ”IGNITE 2023”. The conference program aims to “Ignite the future of the profession through innovation and collaboration”.

The conference will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on October 5-7, you will find us at the HUR Australia booth no. 117.

At this exhibition we wish to share the new developments of our service range. We will showcase our updated HUR SmartBalance, also including new games posing a further challenge for cognition and reaction time.

We have also implemented balance activities from the Sunbeam study as a separate module, designed together with the Sunbeam Protocol’s lead researcher Dr Jennie Hewitt.

Our latest webinar, Let’s Talk About Balance, had two great speakers discussing different aspects of balance training, from Exercise Intensity, to Vestibular Physiotherapy.

Both speakers, Dr Melanie Farlie and Mr Alexander Ring, will also be present at the conference, in case you wish to discuss their topics more. You can watch the Balance Webinar recording here.

A few weeks ago, HUR took part in The Global Ageing conference in Glasgow, Scotland. In this conference Professor Anna Whittaker from Stirling University gave a presentation about her research project, the Panini study in Birmingham that used HUR equipment.

The aim of the study was to assess the feasibility of a definitive, randomized controlled trial (RCT) using a resistance training intervention with frail older adults in residential care.

The results of the study showed large improvements in functional capacity, frailty, and strength in the intervention group compared with the controls.

The evidence on the benefits of strength training in older people is clear. HUR exercise solutions cover both strength and balance, training and well as testing using the same equipment, offering numerous options for appropriate exercise solutions.

You can look at the HUR Australia product range, or come and meet us at our booth to discuss your exercise needs and solutions. HUR Australia’s Managing Director Ari Kallinen, and research lead, Dr Tuire Karaharju-Huisman will be at the conference to answer all your questions.

We look forward to seeing you at the Ignite 2023 in Brisbane in a few weeks to discuss the options HUR equipment offers for best practice rehabilitation.
