HUR Australia Newsletter 2025 is out

We are so happy to announce that HUR Australia Newsletter 2025 has just been published!

The 8th edition of our annual Newsletter is themed around “Positive Ageing”, celebrating significant milestones and awards, sharing stories from our clients and preparing for the inaugural Positive Ageing Summit to be held in Adelaide at the end of May.

Our cover story celebrates 140 years of Bolton Clarke, a service that started with a single nurse and today is Australia’s largest independent not‐for‐profit provider, with a team of 16,000+ supporting 130,000 Australians. We are very happy to part of their services, providing accessible equipment, allowing everyone to reach their best health, also including those who have been through medical issues. The ability to access rehabilitation in a retirement living facility maximises the success for everyone’s health.

We are also celebrating Finncare’s 50th anniversary, the only aged care provider for the Australian Finnish speaking community. The site is one of the first installations for HUR Australia, even before the company officially existed. Since the opening of the “Finngym”, residents have been actively supported to exercise, with many of the staff members telling of the great health benefits the residents have gained. Finncare is a great example of a site that truly appreciated the active ageing culture that includes both residential care, and retirement living.

Our other client stories, from Cedar on Collins, Mercy Health and Encore Retirement Living also describe the benefit and joy that the exercise spaces have brought to their residents, with the benefits also mentioned by family members. It is always wonderful to hear about the positive impact that the inclusion of exercise has had!

Positive Ageing is a key concept when discussing ageing well. When the department of Health and Aged Care launched their Positive Ageing campaign, they stated “Everyone deserves to live well and maintain their health and independence into the future”. The inaugural Positive Ageing Summit, to be held in Adelaide at the end of May, explores the holistic approach to better ageing, highlighting patient centred care, and the allied health support that is essential in the service delivery to support reablement, mental health, and nutrition, among others.

HUR Australia will be at the Positive Ageing Summit to be held at the Hilton Adelaide, booth #1. Come say Hi!

Our feature article gives a brief introduction to the conference with the interviews of Keynote speaker, Dr Justin Keogh, Professional Practice Advisor Christina Wyatt and Principal Consultant at AgeFit Solutions, Dr. Tim Henwood, who has been assisting the conference organising committee.

You can read more about positive ageing, and the conference in my older blog.

Last but not least, we are happy to share with you about our recent win of an award at 13th Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards 2025, held in Singapore. Our entry, “HUR Mobile App – Your Complete Strength & Wellness Solution, In the Gym and at Home”, presented our mobile app that allows us to collect all exercise data, gym and home based, in one platform, allowing for easy access to a collated training programs and data, was selected as a winner in the Physical training & Rehabilitation category, that celebrates new products that directly impact seniors’ quality of life, our category specifically looking for the best product or equipment that supports physical function and enhances mobility, fitness and happiness for older persons.

As the conference season is getting busier, you will have an opportunity to pick up a printed copy of the Newsletter. Our next conference will be on May 24-25 in Hobart, the Innovation & Practice Forum of Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA), where we will host booth #20. The following week, May 28-29, we will be at the Positive Ageing Summit to be held at the Hilton Adelaide.
